An analysis of questions from IJSO-2013
P.K. Joshi and D. Mathur
Abstract
The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is an annual international competition for students under the age of 16. India hosted the event in December 2013. The theoretical and experimental tasks assigned in IJSO are designed to be challenging in nature and, as much as possible, in the “out of the box” category. This paper attempts to analyze why it is that some IJSO questions in 2013 were very good at filtering out the best of the students from the full ensemble of students, whereas some other questions were not.
