Why there are no Salts in Gas-Phase?

Abstract
The origin of the existence of ionic structures in inorganic and organic solids is discussed in the context of electrostatic interactions. It is shown that only in the limit of the condensed state of aggregation the electrostatic interactions are strong enough to stabilize the ionic structures.
